Phlebotomy means collecting a blood sample for laboratory testing. A mobile blood draw brings the collection visit to your home, so you can complete your provider’s ordered testing without making a separate trip to a collection location.
PMW collects specimens and delivers them to the laboratory. The laboratory performs the testing, and your ordering provider explains what the results mean for your care.
Why choose collection at home?
A home visit can help when transportation, mobility, a busy schedule, or difficulty reaching a collection location gets in the way. It changes where the sample is collected; your provider’s testing instructions still apply.
Before your appointment
Have your laboratory order and any preparation instructions available. Ask the ordering provider whether your tests require fasting or other preparation. Do not stop medicines or change your routine unless your care team instructs you to do so. Tell PMW about a history of fainting or difficulty with blood draws so the team can plan your visit.
Choose a comfortable place to sit in your home and keep your questions handy. If you could not follow a preparation instruction, tell the team before collection rather than guessing whether it matters.
What happens next?
The team confirms the collection details, obtains the required specimen, and coordinates delivery to the receiving laboratory. Test preparation, specimen requirements, and laboratory receiving hours help determine appointment availability.
Same-day collection may be available during normal business hours when scheduling, preparation, and laboratory delivery requirements can be met. This does not promise same-day test results. Contact your ordering provider about results and any follow-up care.
